Intended learning outcomes
- Deep understanding of the interaction of ionizing radiation with matter. Radiotherapy and proton therapy.
- Understanding of Monte carlo simulation methods for ionizing radiation interaction with matter. Usage of several simulation codes (PENELOPE, GEANT, FLUKA).
- Development of simulation codes for situations of medical interest for dosimetric calculations. TAC and PET scans, therapy with photon and proton beams.
- Understanding of the mechanisms of production of radiation (ciclotrons, LINACs).
